Suggestions for using the information sheets with families:

Introduce the topic of the information sheet
Review the content
Explain technical words e.g., “coactive signing”
Provide examples that are easily understood. (Some family members may be using tactile strategies already but the terms are new to them)
Encourage family members to select a few strategies and think about how they could use the information to interact with their child who is deaf-blind, e.g., “When could you use an object cue with your child?” “What touch cues would you like to develop?”
Be sure to follow up with the family to find out what happened and whether they have any questions about the strategies they selected.
